Name: Ciara Geraghty (pronounced Keira as in Keira Knightly but with lower cheek bones…)
Age: Old enough to know better
Where I live: Dublin.
Hobbies: Anything sea-related apart from sailing due to precarious relationship with motion. Playing my violin (more enthusiasm than flair), reading cookbooks, singing in the shower using a tube of shower-gel as microphone, cute dog videos, the open road, teapots, pens & post-its.
Pet Hates: Queuing, DIY, jellyfish, Golden Delicious apples, Visa bills, automated answering services, coffee cake, parallel parking, on-hold music, pulses (not the biological kind, more the peas, beans and lentils variety), map-reading, packing, filing, changing the strings on my violin.
Most Likely to Say: I’m really sorry about your picnic, my dog just smelled the sausages and….
Least Likely to Say: I’m too full for dessert.
Favourite food: My mother’s apple tart.
Favourite kids’ book: Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
Favourite writing manual: Bird by Bird, by Anne Lamott
If I wasn’t a writer, I’d be: A train driver. Or a singer in a glam-rock band. Or a waitress in one of those NYC diners where I’d roar the specials at customers and come at them with the coffee pot. I’d say, ‘caw-fee’ like a proper New Yorker.
